State Test Results

Each Spring, computer-based assessments are administered to middle school students throughout California. Results are usually available by late in the Fall semester.

State Test Results: Spring 2018

Based on test scores, students are classified in one of four categories in each academic subject area:

  • Standard Exceeded
  • Standard Met
  • Standard Nearly Met
  • Standard Not Met

For both ELA and Mathematics, Palms students exceeded California and LAUSD averages in the percentage of students who met or exceeded state standards and the percentage of students who exceeded state standards.

Past Testing

Computer-based assessments in English Language Arts (ELA) and Mathematics replaced paper-based exams. The Common Core tests given in Spring 2014 and Spring 2015 were used to evaluate states tests and testing methods, and to set baselines for subsequent comparisons.

State tests are now based on more challenging academic standards than in the past, so the new scores can't be compared with the API scores of past years.
