About 40% of Los Angeles County residents speak Spanish. Would you like to be among them?
Everyone who lives in Los Angeles hears Spanish spoken and sees Spanish signs. In the Spanish 1 elective at Palms, you can begin learning the four basic Spanish communication skills:
- Speaking
- Listening
- Reading
- Writing
This elective is not recommended if Spanish is your primary language.
A year of foreign language is a requirement to graduate from high school.
To be eligible for state colleges and universities, you must take 2 years of the same language, with 3 recommended for University for California admission.
By taking Spanish 1 in middle school you earn foreign language credit and will be ready to take Spanish 2 in high school.
