Spirit Series

The Palms Modern Media and Communications Magnet partners with Spirit Series to allow students to perform scripts connected to their 6th grade Ancient Civilizations curriculum or 7th grade English curriculum.

Sixth grade students of Ms. Apenyo and Mr. Diaz participated for three weeks in Fall 2022, culminating in an on-stage presentation in the Auditorium.

Seventh grade students of Mr. Flores prepared their own performances in Spring 2023.

Sixth grade students of Ms. Apenyo participated again in Fall 2023, and performed Buddha Walks in December.

Eighth grade students of Mr. Flores are participating in Spring 2024 with a theme of "Courage."

Palms and Spirit Series expect to continue their partnership in future school years.

About Spirit Series

Spirit Series is a drama-based school program for grades four through eight. The program uses theatre as a method to teach character and deliver meaning.

Students in the program study, co-write, stage, and perform one-act historical biographies. Over a dozen middle schools in Southern California are participating in the Spirit Series program.
