Meet the Teacher
Dear 6th Grader and Family,
Welcome to 6th grade at Palms Middle School and to my English/Ancient Civilizations class. I hope you are excited to start the school year and are ready to work hard, ask questions, share your knowledge, and laugh!
I am a native of Southern California and attended elementary, middle, and high school in LAUSD. I earned by bachelor’s degree in Psychology from UC Santa Cruz (go Slugs!) and my teaching credentials from CSUDH and CSUN. Palms Middle School has been my home since 1996 and I have been teaching in LAUSD since 1986. Oh my, that is a long time!
Family wise, I have two daughters. My eldest graduated from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo with a degree in mechanical engineering and my other daughter chose UCLA. They are my pride and joy and have taught me so much about many things, especially technology! I enjoy sports, especially the Dodgers, and cooking.
In my classroom, I tend to create a “family” atmosphere. Respect, equality, honesty, and risk-taking are qualities I value greatly. Attending to the whole child is what I am known for most and am a firm believer that growth only occurs when students, parents, and teachers work as a team.
