Field Trips

Academic field trips vary from year to year and class to class. Parents will be notified of upcoming class trips.

Some Palm field trips, past and present:

• Each year, about 100 art students visit the Getty Center in Brentwood.

• Art students may also visit The Broad museum and the California African American Museum.

• Students in Instrumental Music perform at several off-campus concerts.

• Students in the BSAP program take field trips. For 2022-2023 the trips were to see OURstory the Black History Musical at the Alex Theater and for a tour of SoFi Stadium and the Kinsey African American Art & History Collection.

• Students in the Modern Media and Communications Magnet have visited the Ballona Wetlands to gain a better understanding of environmental sustainability and restoration.

• Eighth grade students may visit a college or university. They visited Los Angeles Trade-Technical College in Spring 2023.

• Some sixth grade students have gone to the UCLA Institute for Planets and Exoplanets (iPLEX).

• Some science students go to UCLA in conjunction with DNA Day.

• P.E. students can participate in the Run 4 Fun racing festival.

• Seventh grade Honors English students went annually to see A Midsummer Night's Dream at the Will Geer Theatricum Botanicum in Topanga.

• Seventh grade students have collected toys and taken a field trip to deliver them during the Toy Drive.

• Leadership students have visited the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library Leadership Center and Los Angeles City Hall.

• Eighth grade students can take a Trip to the East Coast.

• Eligible eighth graders go to Knott's Scary Farm in the Fall and either Magic Mountain or Universal Studios in the Spring.

• Teachers may get grants for special field trips to museums, fairs, historic site, etc.
