Meeting Kelly Marie Tran in Person!
In May 2021, 6th grade Palms student Jade Yates won the Asian American Pacific Islander Art Contest for her drawing of Star Wars actress Kelly Marie Tran, who played Rose Tico in The Last Jedi and The Rise of Skywalker.
In October, at the Young Storytellers Fox Studios Monologue program, Kelly Marie Tran was one of the celebrity readers. She read Jade's monologue and posed with her!
Red Leader X-wing Starfighter
This detailed prop, used in the original 1977 Star Wars film, was constructed of resin, styrene, acrylic, and metal. It played the part of Red One (the Red Team leader), Red Two, and Red Five, piloted by Luke Skywalker and used in the scene where Skywalker blows up the Death Star to save the galaxy.
This prop was thought to be lost for over 45 years, but in 2023 it was found in the collection of modelmaker Greg Jein. It was sold at auction in October 2023 for $2.6 million!
