College Dual Enrollment Program

Palms 8th graders can take a college course while still attending Palms, during the Spring semester, earning college credit. All 8th grade students are eligible.

The Los Angeles Southwest College course, called College Survival Skills Development, is taught online over 8 weeks, two days a week, 65 minutes per day.

Signups are first-come-first-served. If you are interested, see the Eighth Grade Counselor. The signup deadline is Wednesday, November 17, 2022.

College Survival Skills Development

Students will discuss the importance of learning the necessary skills to be successful college students.

Students will be introduced to the importance of utilizing campus resources such as Matriculation, Counseling, and Financial Aid, just to name a few.

They will learn:

  1. The matriculation process, including how to interpret an abbreviated and comprehensive education plan
  2. Study skill and strategies
  3. How to identify the connection between academic success and self- esteem, stress and time management
  4. The importance of setting goals with timelines
