The Grant committee looks for grant-based funding for programs at Palms, matching grant opportunities to school goals and helping Palms through the application process. Teachers often look for their own grants as well.

Notable Grants Received

In 2024, Mr. Mcneil and Mrs. Romero each received a $900 grant from Azusa Pacific University's Keeping History Alive program, and Mrs. Wohl received a $900 grant from Azusa Pacific University's Bringing STEM to Life program. The grants will be used for classroom materials.

In 2023, Palms applied for and received a $5000 grant for improvements to the Palms Garden from a philanthropic organization that chose to remain anonymous.

In 2022, Ms. Garret, Ms. Gillispie, and Mrs. Wohl received a team grant from Azusa Pacific University's Bringing STEM to Life program.

In 2022, Mrs. Clark received a $500 grant from Directing Change to support her Video Production students, who created videos for Directing Change contests.

In 2022, History teachers Ms. Garret, Ms. Gillispie, Ms. Rivera, and Mrs. Wohl received a $3400 grant from Azusa Pacific University's Keeping History Alive program. Each teacher received $850 for classroom materials.

In 2021, Mrs. Clark received a $1500 grant from Directing Change to support her Video Production students, who created videos for Directing Change contests.

In 2021, Mrs. Clark received a $120,000 Perkins grant for her support her Video Production class. Perkins Grants are intended to improve career-technical education programs.

In 2021, Mrs. Clark received $5,000 and $2500 Career Technical Education Incentive grants. These grants are intended to provide students with knowledge and skills necessary to transition to employment and postsecondary education.

In 2020, Mrs. Clark received a $500 grant from Directing Change to support her Video Production class.

In 2019, Ms. Garret received a $850 grant from Azusa Pacific University's Keeping History Alive program, for classroom curricular materials, art supplies, and historical replicas for her 7th grade Medieval World History classes.

In 2019, Ms. McCarrell received a $450 grant from Azusa Pacific University's Keeping History Alive program for copies of the U.S. Constitution for her 8th grade U.S. History classes.

In 2019, Mrs. Clark received a $500 grant from Directing Change to support her Video Production class.

In 2015, Ms. Hoffman received a grant for a class trip to the Santa Monica Pier Aquarium and Beach: Thursday October 29, 2015.

Ms. Hoffman also received in 2015 a grant from Pets in the Classroom to buy a classroom aquarium and fish with which to stock it.

In 2014, English and Video Production teacher Mrs. Clark received a $500 grant from the California Credit Union to create a sound booth for her Video Production students.

In 2014, Ms. Hoffman and Mr. Scott won a grant from the Society for Science & The Public that let them take over 40 students to the International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) at the Los Angeles Convention Center.

In 2013, Ms. Hoffman received a $150 grant for Pets in the Classroom to set up a classroom aquarium.

In 2010, History teacher Ms. Garret received a Keeping History Alive grant from Azusa Pacific University. Palms received the maximum $850 allocation. The funds were used for:

  1. classroom materials and resources
  2. transportation for field trips to museums and historical sites
  3. professional development attendance at conferences, workshops, and seminars
