Photos in Historical Investigations

Photographs in Historical InvestigationsIn this project, students choose and research a photograph. They learn to identify a photo, examine it, and evaluate it.

They answer questions such as

  • Who took this picture and when?
  • What details in the photograph yield the most information?
  • Is the photograph a valid historic representation?
  • What is the photographer's perspective on this picture?

Then the students get into costume and recreate the photo.

This is one of our most fun and interesting class projects!
