The school district's Arts Festival, first held in 2014, resulted from an idea by Palms 7th grader Jordyn Sacino.
Jordyn entered the district-wide My Bright Idea Challenge in 2012. There were 1300 contest submissions and over 10,000 votes cast. Jordyn was declared the winner based on her idea to support the arts with an arts festival.
Palms received $3,000 as part of the award and Jordyn was honored by the district.
